Today will bring scoot back to the dealer to put on new thermostat hopefully be back on the road this afternoon. Find out there is no thermostat inside, replace new test drive everything look good so far. Load the gears up and left Denver at 4:00 pm driver north to Rocky Mnt NP, camp tonight at Estes Park CO. Thing look good so far thanks you Chip of KYMCO USA and Matt, Russell of the Sportique Scooters at Denver for taking care of the problem. Also thanks to Tom at Parker CO help me around in Denver and Deb to get me that great connection.

Change my route to Denver, did not rode much on Monday run into a big storm in Kansas for haft a day. After the storm past start driving then the bike start to ever heat. Stop at the next town Garden City KS, Mon no shop open. Tue got it going again but not very good so decided to turn west to Denver. There is a lot of Kymco dealer to check it out. Got to meet Tom one of the scooter rider which rode with me to Kentucky last year on the trip to Smoky Mnt. Put in 510 mi.

Today left Austin 8:30 am ride 517 mi arrive to Canada 8:00 pm, about 100 mi short from from today stop. Total 2 days 709 mi tonight stay at Perryton TX at the border of TX /OK pan handle. Not to many scenic in TX.

First report


For the first day not much to going on in TX. Friday I had four of our Texas Road Rats from San Antonio rode down to Rockport spend the night here, do some riding around the coast. Sat have our breakfast before the the send off my journey. Start out at 9:00 we five rode the coastal hwy to Victoria then Cureo TX first gas stop. From there we split up they head back to SA. I continue north to Austin seeing my brother in law. Since the weather start to get little rain so I decide to sleep here tonight check out the weather for tomorrow.

One week to go! Today change out new belt, change oil Mobil1 full synthetic go for 2500 mi for next change some where before crossing the Canadian border. Pack up the full load and test run for for two hours on hwy felt very comfortable, very good so far. Go back to my route to see if any change of mind tonight. Have seen weather up north are very nasty, hopefully I don't run into area. Understand that this Friday a group of Texas Road Rats of San Antonio scooters will come down to my place and ride with me for couple hundred miles as a send off. Very nice of them, Thanks you you TRR in advanced.

P250 TX-AK ADVENTURE JULY 08

After six months of preparing for this adventure. I ready to hit the road on jun 21 from Rockport TX to Alaska. Head north to Mt Rushmore venture some of the NP around there then head west to Kalispell MT venture the Glacier NP, head north on Alaska hwy to Alaska. The return route south taking the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy or (the ferry from Haines to Prince Rupert BC) to Seattle WA, Portland OR, Crater NP, SF, Long Beach CA visit friends and families along the west coast before head east back to TX. I will be riding my 07 Kymco People 250 already had 11000 mi on it after my first trip to Smoky Mnt in Oct 07. I will be camping and hotel depending where I will be that evening.This is will be my first longest trip I will be solo because of where I want to stop on my route and take my time to enjoy my trip. I will use this blog to post pics and report on my trip.
